Product description

Triops Longicaudatus

This is a variant of the normal Longicaudatus triops, namely an Albino species.

The Triops Longicaudatus is also called the American shellfish species because the Triops Longicaudatus mainly occurs in America and was first found there. The Longicaudatus is the most popular species of the Triops genera and therefore the Longicaudatus is one of the best studied species of the Triops. The Longicaudatus is a remarkable adaptor. It adapts very well to its environment, such as the small streams that form in the spring and dry up completely in the summer. The Triops Longicaudatus already lived at the time of the first dinosaurs and still inhabits the earth with us today. The color of its shell is light brown. From the age of about two weeks he can lay his Triops eggs. He does this when his egg sacs are full by burying his Triops eggs in the sand. Adult Triops Longicaudatus can lay up to 200 eggs, also called cysts, per day and usually reach a maximum age of 12 weeks.

The Longi, as insiders affectionately call it, is actually relatively easy to grow. As with all Triops species, special attention must be paid to temperature and sufficient light. The light is very important, especially for a large hatch. Once the triops have hatched, light plays a minor role. What should not be neglected even after hatching is the temperature. The Triops Longicaudatus feels very comfortable at temperatures around 25° Celsius. However, it should not be much colder or warmer, because his organism often cannot cope with that very well. It is best to use a breeding container for cultivation. You shouldn't put in too much effort. The container must be clean, then place the spring water and the breeding batch of Triops Longicaudatus in it, make sure the temperature is about 25° Celsius and point a lamp at it. Now you have to be patient, but after 24 - 48 hours you will see the first nauplii vibrating in your breeding tank. They are very small and also extremely sensitive. You don't have to do anything at this time. Wait another day and then you can feed. Do not feed too much, otherwise the water will become cloudy, but also not too little, otherwise the Triops Longicaudatus nauplii will not find the food in the breeding tank and we do not want them to starve.

The Triops Longicaudatus is a fascinating Tadpole Shrimp, which is very suitable for beginners.
