Isopod Cubaris spec. “Panda King”
Nymphs from our own cultivation. The gender of the nymphs is random. If you want to breed with them, we recommend ordering a group of 10 nymphs.
Information
Cubaris specification. “Panda King” lives in tropical areas in Vietnam. Therefore, a humidity of 75-85% should be maintained. To maintain humidity, you can cover the substrate with leaves, moss, bark or the like.
The organic material in the substrate serves as food, but also as supplementary food such as vegetables, fruit and woodlice food. A large layer of leaves on the substrate is very popular as a feeding and shelter area. The species regularly remains at the surface in an adult state and is easily observable. Growing this strain is relatively easy and is also forgiving of one or two growing mistakes, making it a good beginner strain.
Appearance
They usually grow to just over 1 cm in size, but these little rockets are very active. The base color is brown. From the 2nd segment to the 4th segment the color changes to creamy white. The legs and antennae of this species are also completely creamy white. This color constellation gives the isopod the name "Panda King".
Behaviour
One of the fascinating traits of Panda King Isopods is their remarkable ability to curl into a tight ball when faced with danger, giving them a natural defense mechanism against predators. They have the remarkable ability to clean soil and water of toxic heavy metals, making them valuable for environmental restoration projects. Panda King Isopods are hermaphrodites, possessing both male and female reproductive organs and the ability to reproduce independently, without a mate.
Food
Iospods are real cleaners. They eat, among other things, dead wood, dead beech and oak leaves, fish food, cucumber and mushroom. Sepia should certainly not be missing because they have a high need for calcium, which you can also offer in powder form.
Environmental requirements
Isopods cannot touch glass, a glass container as housing is sufficient. Use cocopeat as a soil mixed with humus, dead leaves (beech and oak), some pieces of rotted wood and bark. The Porcelliomides pruinosus "powder orange" does not make high demands on its environment. Spray 1 part of the enclosure so that they can choose a drier or more humid place. The temperature may be between 21 and 25 degrees.
