Buying an Acrylic Ant Farm?
Are you looking for an ant farm where you can follow every detail with razor-sharp clarity? Our acrylic ant farms (made of high-quality plexiglass) offer the very best view of your ant colony thanks to their completely transparent design. From the queen laying her eggs to the worker ants tending to the brood: in an acrylic nest, you won't miss a single moment of this fascinating process.
The advantages of a transparent acrylic nest
- Crystal clear view: No sand blocking the view; you look directly into the nest's chambers and tunnels.
- Easily expandable: Thanks to convenient connection ports, you can effortlessly link your acrylic ant farm to additional arenas or nests as the colony grows.
- Built-in moisture system: Equipped with special humidification chambers to maintain perfect humidity levels in the nest.
Ideal for almost all ant species
An acrylic ant farm is suitable for both beginners and experienced hobbyists. Popular species such as the black garden ant (Lasius niger) and the harvester ant (Messor barbarus) thrive in it. The Messor barbarus is especially recommended: it's fantastic to watch them sort and process their seeds in the transparent chambers. Choose your acrylic ant farm or complete starter set below and start this unique hobby immediately!
Ant's Kingdom Asteroid (Universe Collection)
The intelligence of ants is out of this world, extraterrestrial! We still only understand a fraction of how ants can cooperate so efficiently. The Universe Collection was created to illustrate this supernatural phenomenon. Build your own universe now, start with this Asteroid and slowly expand to a complete system!
This ant farm is perfectly suitable for both small and medium-sized colonies of species such as Lasius, Myrmica, Pheidole, Messor, and Formica.
These nests are equipped with a foam part, which keeps the nest moist for about 1 week. To moisten the nest, you can wet this foam (syringe included). It absorbs and distributes moisture without the risk of flooding chambers and passages. The foam must therefore remain moist so that the ants find a good environment in this nest.
The system is very practical with this unique water supply. Even cleaning the entire Ant Farm is possible. You first connect another enclosure or nest tube where the ants move to, and then the acrylic nest is easy to unscrew and rinse with water.
The nest is easily expandable through the 10 mm opening on the outside. Other enclosures can be connected with hoses.

Ant farm starter kit
The best foundation for starting to raise your own ant colony can be found in this starter kit!
The biggest challenge of the hobby lies in the beginning. How do you ensure your queen and a few workers grow into a healthy, large colony? The 'Ant Dock Station' in combination with the arena makes this a lot easier.
In addition to the great shelter and the robust character of the 'Ant Dock Station', you can now also provide your ants with the right temperature. At the end of the Dock, there is a slot where the 1-meter heat cable fits perfectly (available as an optional add-on). By positioning the heat cable correctly, you can provide the test tube containing your ant colony with the right temperature. Now your ants will stay nice and warm, even during the cold periods of the year! With the right temperature, your colony grows the fastest, which is exactly what you want!
The Dock where you place the test tube can be seen as the nest section, which is normally underground. Warm from the sun, sheltered by the earth, and ventilated for the ants. This is all incorporated into the Dock. The Arena is the section above ground. In this outdoor living area, which the ants can reach via the transport tube, the ants can collect their food (which you place there once a week) and take away their waste.
How cool is it to be able to watch the ants working together and moving through the tube from up close.
This starter kit is suitable for all types of ants. Don't have a colony yet? Then you can choose from different species above, including food, and add them to your order at great promotional prices. You can also order the heat cable and decorations for your arena above.
