Pheidole pallidula is a small and aggressive ant. Like Messor barbarus, big majors can occur at Pheidole. These then have a huge head with jaws. That is why Pheidole is also called the thick headed ant.
They develop very fast and therefore require relatively much and frequently the right nutrition. The life span per ant is much lower than other species and they are very small, so can escape through the smallest of openings. We recommend an anti-escape oil as extra protection! For this reason, we also find this species more difficult and not suitable for beginners.
They are known for their very aggressive behavior and unlike other species, a large part of the colony often goes out to catch food, amazing to see!
