A solid ant farm of plaster in a plastic cube. You can watch your ants from all sides of this Ant Farm. This product is a great start to kick-off your ant breeding hobby. In addition, this version is very suitable for almost all ant species. The cubes are especially suited for smaller species, because they very tightly closed, so there are no possibilities for the ants to escape.
Add a bit of water with the supplied syringe to the gypsum to keep the nest moist (once every few weeks). The water pulls into the gypsum and you can see the plaster getting darker to watch how moist the gypsum has become.
The upper part of the cube can also be used as an 'Arena', however we recommend connecting a separate arena or nutrition bowl so that you can feed more easily and clean up the colony's garbage. At each arena and extra nest we supply free coupling materials (connecting hose etc).
This Ant farm is easy to connect to the other nests and outdoor arenas via the 10 mm openings on the side.
This farm is suitable for almost all ant species. For larger colonies of species such as Camponotus (larger species with larger numbers) it is not suitable. We deliver our colonies in a test tube and we supply connection materials to connect to the opening in the cube nest. A simple protective sleeve for protecting the colony in the test tube can be ordered in the accessories category on our website.
The diet of almost all ant colonies consists of a combination of sugar water, honeydew and fruit flies. For Messor species a special mix of selected seeds are added to the nutrition set (enough for a year for colonies up to 50 workers). A nutrition set can be ordered above.
